Everywhere I look in the world I see oneness. After 25 years of filmmaking spanning six continents, I am still in awe of that human spirit which, amid life’s challenges chooses to celebrate life and to dedicate time and treasure to make the world a better place. Whether following a New Year’s celebration down village streets in Tajikistan; dodging bullets in the capital of the Central African Republic as I film young people breathing life into a community-school project; or discreetly and respectfully filming a smudging ceremony on a First Nations reserve in Canada – the focus of my art is to highlight that point of oneness where the physical beauty of the world and the remarkable capacities of its peoples meet.

Two hundred years ago, the Báb appeared, inaugurating a new Dispensation and preparing humanity for the light of Bahá’u’lláh’s Revelation. Shot in 10 countries across 6 continents, Dawn of the Light portrays several individuals as they relate their own personal search after truth and meaning. They share their discovery that God has sent two Divine Manifestations—the Báb and Bahá’u’lláh—Whose teachings are revolutionizing human thought and behaviour, changing darkness into light. The film shows glimpses of how this same discovery is inspiring the efforts of many across the globe to serve humanity and to contribute to building a new pattern of life.
